A reader pointed us to a USA Today article published yesterday on state and federal lawmakers who want cities they deem ’sanctuary cities’ for illegal immigration to face tough penalties.
From the article: At least three states are considering taking the path of Colorado, which adopted an anti-sanctuary law last year. It denies some funding to communities that prevent police and other municipal employees from cooperating with immigration authorities. Similar measures are pending in Michigan, New Jersey and Wisconsin. What’s your take—should ’sanctuary cities’ face penalties or is each city allowed to write immigration policy for itself? (Thanks to Paul for the tip.)
