The pertinent excerpt—

A nonpartisan group, Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together, is continuing the push for immigration reform. While it could be another bruising battle, members see the discussion resuming soon.

"We start fresh in January with a new Congress and a new president," said Henry Bonilla, a former Texas congressman who now serves as MATT's spokesman.

The group recently began airing television advertisements in Albuquerque, Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Richmond, Va., calling on candidates to remember immigration and reminding residents the work isn't finished.

"The problem has not gone away. We're trying to say that in a nice way," Bonilla said. "We're not pointing fingers at anyone. We have a message and we're reaching out to community leaders, to clergy and to activists to help."

Palin on immigration post-McCain

According to [Mark] Krikorian [head of the right-wing Center for Immigration Studies], once Sarah Palin is free from the McCain campaign, she will be able to speak freely about the immigration issue. “There’s a real possibility, once Senator McCain is history, that she will likely take a much more hawkish position on immigration,” he adds. “Now maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part — it’s possible, but I don’t think so.”
